Wrights Jewellers

When Ben and Rhian decided to refresh their Pukekohe store, Wrights Jewellers, they approached us at Cutting Edge Cabinetry with a clear design, vision and budget in mind. We collaborated closely to build and install the cabinetry—bringing their concept to life and transforming their space into a refined, modern retail environment.

Design & Materials
The renovation reflects a blend of sophistication and warmth, combining luxurious details with a practical retail layout. Inspired by the idea that jewellery is a blend of natural elements, the design incorporates brass as a raw, refined material, with subtle highlights woven thoughtfully throughout the space to add warmth and create a seamless, polished finish that brings a refined touch of luxe.

This is complemented by Seasoned Ash cabinetry, chosen for its soft, natural tones that nod to the organic feel of the materials without overpowering the space. Together, they create a calming, inviting atmosphere that supports the display of fine jewellery with quiet elegance.

LED lighting beneath the central podium shelves highlights key pieces, drawing attention to the intricate beauty of each item. The addition of secure, lockable glass display cases ensures that functionality is not compromised, balancing elegance with peace of mind for high-value pieces.

Repainted panels subtly refresh the space, while additional custom panels were fitted to the window shelving, while several existing glass display cabinets were upgraded with upholstered bases—refining both form and function.

Challenges
As with many renovation projects, working around the existing layout came with its fair share of problem-solving. Integrating new cabinetry and display components into an established retail environment required careful planning to ensure each addition felt intentional and cohesive.

One of the standout design challenges was the centrally located supporting pillar. Rather than working around it, we turned it into a key feature—wrapping it with custom shelving and incorporating LED lighting beneath each shelf to highlight the jewellery on display.

Working within a fixed budget and timeline, while maintaining premium standards, also required strong organisation and clear communication across all teams involved.

Outcomes

The result is a shop fit-out that’s elegant, practical, and purpose-built for day-to-day retail. Delivered on time and within budget, the transformed space now reflects the prestige and elegance of the jewellery on display.

The finished result is both functional and beautiful—a cohesive retail environment that enhances the customer experience while standing up to the daily demands of a busy store.
