This client approached Cutting Edge Cabinetry with a clear vision for her kitchen and scullery. She wanted a cohesive design that blended elegant style with functionality, and she was particularly focused on integrating a curved element into the bench top. From the layout to the materials and finishes, she was fully engaged in the design process, bringing inspiration notes and images to guide the aesthetic. Cutting Edge Cabinetry worked closely with the client, offering suggestions and exploring different options to bring her vision to life, including the idea of incorporating a brass accent under the island, which became a standout feature of the design.
The final design featured a curved island clad in brushed brass, adding a touch of luxury and creating a striking focal point. The main kitchen cabinetry was finished in a matte slate tone, while the scullery cabinetry provides contrast with a bright white finish, incorporating a mix of cupboards, drawers, open shelving, and open-style drawers. Oak floating shelves were installed on either side of the range hood, enhanced by LED strip lighting above and below for a warm, inviting glow. The bench tops in both the kitchen and scullery were crafted from 30mm thick stone, with a waterfall end on the kitchen island and a seamless matching splash back. The brass details extended to the sink bowl fittings, ensuring continuity throughout the space.
The key challenge in this project was achieving a balance between the client’s intricate design preferences and the practical demands of the space. Integrating the curved bench top while ensuring a smooth flow and consistency with the cabinetry required careful planning and precision. Additionally, the combination of different materials, finishes, and bespoke elements like the brass cladding and oak shelves demanded a meticulous approach to ensure a seamless and cohesive look throughout the kitchen and scullery.
The completed kitchen and scullery perfectly captured the client’s vision, blending modern elegance with functional design. The curved island with its brushed brass finish became a statement piece while the mix of contrasting cabinetry tones created a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The careful integration of open shelving and the custom lighting brought warmth and depth to the space, making it both practical for everyday use and beautiful for entertaining. Delivered within the 6.5 week timeline, the project stands as a testament to Cutting Edge Cabinetry’s commitment to craftsmanship and collaborative design, transforming the client’s ideas into a space that feels both personalised and timeless.
